Illithid — a member of an alien race that came to our world millennia ago. These bipedal creatures stand six to eight feet in height and have cthulhuesque tentacles descending from around their maw in a megacephalic head. Their skin is tough, leathery, and coated in mucous.

These illithids — call mind-flayers by some — have powerful psionic disciplines and are often arcane casters as well. They are malicious brain-eaters whose tentacles and maw can work together to extract a humanoid's brain in a matter of seconds, should they achieve a grapple.

Illithids tend to live in the Underdark.
