Experimenting with Git

- Posted in Uncategorized by

I wrote about my introductory experimentation with the Git version control system. I've been reading more about it today, and I added a C# console program that demonstrates calculating prime numbers in a desired range of numbers.

I got an update on my brother. He remains confused, and this is caused by toxins in his system. The nurse told me his ammonia levels were notably lower this morning, so that's good. He said this sort of encephalopathy often clears up in time, once these toxins are eliminated. So, my prayers go up to God that my brother will regain his faculties. Unfortunately, his cirrhotic liver isn't likely to improve, so he'll be dealing with ammonia and abdominal fluid buildup from now on.

I've made reengagement attempts with patients that needed it. I run a group with Dr. J in a bit less than an hour, and until then I'm going to read about solo roleplaying using the Tiny Dungeon 2e rules set.

Viruses, naps, and sci-fi

Yesterday afternoon and evening I felt pretty rough: neck and shoulder pain, upset stomach, breaking out in a sweat. I think it's viral. I called in last night so that I could take today off to continue recuperating. I think I feel better this morning than last night.

A note about my use of FreeFileSync 10.16: I'm currently using it sync certain backup archives to my GoogleDrive and FTP accounts. Here is the critical info that goes on the right hand side of the interface, and this is intended for Mirroring to the right-side directories:

ftp://admin%40williammillerservices.com@williammillerservices.com:21/public_ftp/data/csdev|pass64=my_password_string

Of course, the portion of that string that comes after .com:21 and that precedes |pass64= will vary. Obviously, for security reasons, I've replaced my actual password with my_password_string, since I do backup this blog to some cloud file storage services without encryption.

Files containing an XML-formatted version of these sync settings can also be found here. These settings are also saved on my 465 Gb removable drive in the /txt subdirectory, on my Google Drive, and on my OneDrive.

Later...

I slept about three hours today (~11 to 2). It's 6:54 pm. Susan is sitting with Jimmie. I didn't go over because I don't want to give him whatever bug I've had. I finished season 3 of Colony. I like actor Josh Holloway. I first saw him on the series Lost, and he stars in Colony as well, along with Sarah Wayne Callies (who is Lori Grimes in The Walking Dead). The two have good chemistry in Colony. On July 21, 2018, USA announced they had cancelled the series after three seasons. I'm disappointed, but such is typical of good series.

Saturday 5th October 2019

As I write this on Saturday, 10/05/2019, this picture of my daughter, Emily Grace Miller, is a bit over eight years old. I'd picked her up from school on a Monday, 08/15/2011, because she was sick. In this photo, I was taking, or may have already taken, her to the doctor. Little did I know that less than two years later, her mother would engineer false allegations leading to major life stress, lasting trauma, and me out of work for ten months as the slow wheels of justice ground round. <img align="right" Emily on 15 Aug 2011

I hope to someday become able to pray sincerely for their mother's well-being. In fact, I hope to someday be able to pray for my children regularly (instead of occasionally, as I now do). I even hope to someday have some sort of relationship with my children, even if it's only an occasional phone call or post.

As I understand things, Emily got a scholarship to a non-Kentucky university. I suppose she'd be a sophomore or junior by now. I wish her well, and all academic success.

I'm still paying child support on both children. Last year I checked into getting it ended, and was told if my amount was recalculated based upon my current salary, it would increase, even though I'd just be paying on Seth now. Fortunately for me, the Russell County attorney was willing to allow me to withdraw my request for review of child support.

I recently tried reaching Seth on both email and Facebook, but to no avail. I pray they are both doing well, and that God will continue to heal their hurts, their mother's, and my own.
